Interaction with Dr. Javed Khan for ELT


   Department Of English, MKBU has organized guest lectures for students. I have attain three days session of Dr. Javed Khan sir who come from S.P.UNIVERSITY  (VALLABHVIDYANAGAR ) . The whole session organized by Department of English MKBU.In this session we have at most two faculties for the sessions. From the interaction what I achieved here I'm sharing with u reader. That two faculties are Dr. Javed Khan sir and R.K. Mandaliya Sir both are genius persons for his subject.

   Dr. Javed khan deal with ELT {English Language Teaching} but that I shared my experience. He excellent in his subject came to intereaction with us. 


   Javed Khan sir's nature and his technique for teaching is simple and effective for learners, who try to communicate with students and used to share his own experience. The very first thing which he clear that he is not here, for delivering a lectures "Interaction in Class".

   First interaction on the ELT, he talk about the difference between of teaching of English as native land and English as foreign language both should have different needs and ways to learned. After that the classified their is two part in it. ELT For primary and higher education and how students level differs in each level of study and methods. 

Javed sir's Teaching style and our experience.

   Fist day he gave work about "SEEK". He says one should seek knowledge, and have to work by the skin of their teeth, then and then they can achieve what they want.

   Lastly he gave advice or Ivan say that a wonderful gift in the form of words ."If You choose your teacher who excel in your subject that he make your good future other wise teacher is not good in your subject that he is going to spoil the future of students.

Here is some points which sir teaches us and interact with in the session of ELT.

What is Initiation ?  Why do we need initiation.

What is ELT.

Function of ELT in higher and school level education, ELT and it's concerns.

*Various purpose of ELT.

1) Key concept on ELT Discussed in class :

  • TENL - Teaching English an native language 
  • EFL - english as foreign language 
  • ESP - English for specific purpose
  • ESL -english for second language 
  • EAP -English for academic purpose 
  • Linguistic semiotics grammar 
  • Phonetics graphology etymology 

From this points he gave concept about function of ELT in every field.

2) Core knowledge discussed in class :

  • English for academic purpose Liz hampir Lyon assessment and evaluation system. 
  • English for literary purpose 
  • Language of drama , novel and poet . 
   From this topic sir talked about the examination system of India, Which emphasis on only on the reading skill and writing skills and also be says that EAP is focus on teaching English long like other factors like grammar etc.

   At last how it is to be useful for us as students and in exam and life as teacher  ir ay profession or human being .... 

   This 3 days session is very helpful to us and how to write answers and how you should teach your students in a better way .....!

Movie review of Lagaan.

Movie review of 'LAGAAN'


15 August 2018,
In this day at Department of English MKBU, we have a film screening of Lagaan. This movie based on nationalism but now we try to look and understand deeply the structure, metaphor and different way to interpret and connect with human aspects.

Lagaan movie shows the different points and aspects :

Indianness.
Post colonialism.
Patriarchy.
Religion.
Nationalism.
Cricket as a metaphor.
Subaltern.
Rural India.
Feminism.
Team work and leadership.
Goodness of Britishers.
Love triangle.
Language.
Dance style.

Plot :~
   The film based on religion context. Ex: Lord Krishna's story. Bhuvan's character based on Krishna, Gauri character like Radha and Elizabeth's character shows Mira, Elizabeth fall in love with Bhuvan but  he can't love her.
  And also story based on independents and reduce the tex(Lagaan).

Rural India :~
   This movie shows the village life and and rural people's problems to survive life. The farmers and other people who facing many problems like due to less rain(Lagaan). There are manipulate by the Britishers and king of Chapaner. The people are badly treated by Britishers. No one cares about the villages condition and problems.

Indianness :~
   Indianess is the energy which gives to the people strength. In the movie we see many things happens with Indianness.
   *Yoga : Yoga is the symbol of Indianness. Movie shows Bhuvan and other players doing yoga for fitness of their health.
   *Temple Ball : When Bhuvan hits the ball that ball hit the temple bell. This significant shoemws the God  to play the game and also this incident shows hope.
    *Castism : The character Kachara who consider as lover cast and untouchability. The other players not want to play with him but Bhuvan try to confess them to play the game because Kachara was fantastic spinner (firki player). And also try to show and connection with religion conflict like Ramayana, the relationship between Rama and Shabri.

Religion :~
   Religion point is main force who leads the plot forward.
   *Food : British soldier tell to king to eat meat than people not pay double tex. But king denied to eat meat.
   *Religion based on fear : Movie shows focused on temple. Whenever the villager feel hopeless and afraid by Britisher than they pray to God.
   *Oneness of religion : Movie shows oneness of religion. In the village there are many religion people like Muslim, Shikh and Hindu. They all live happy with each other.

Teamwork and leadership :~


   Leadership is the difficult task. The leader face many problems and difficulties. In the movie Bhuvan accept the challenge of cricket, but the other people not understand his ambition and condition. Than he try to prove him and play the game which unknown by villagers. After playing game than people understand his motive and people play with him.

Post colonial :~
   In the film Britisher ruled over Chapaner. The king of Chapaner can't speak anything of Britishers. Normally king is the symbol of strength and power, but hear is under the Britishers.
   Village people are focused to play cricket by Britisher. So they haven't other options. Britisher focused to play cricket because they have master in this game and they think that villager can't win this match.
   The character of Elizabeth who is Britisher. She helps villagers to play this game it shows post colonialism.

Cricket as a metaphor :~
   Cricket is the metaphor of post colonialism. This movie shows fear and freedom. Villages don't know how to play cricket. If they loose in the match they have to pay 3 time more tex(Lagaan). But it's also symbol of hope and freedom. If they win the match they should not pay tex to 3 year. So Bhuvan have think about villagers future that's why he accept this challenge of cricket match.

Patriarchy :~
   Cricket game only for playing by male players. Female not get any importance in the game. Female only do this thing like make food and home cleaning.
   In other side British people give the equal power and freedom, that Elizabeth helps villagers to learn cricket game.
   The female characters Gauri and Elizabeth are totally different. Gauri shows patriarchy things always do what his father tell to her and other side Elizabeth do everything what she thinks.

Love triangle :~
   In this movie does love triangles. We can show that 2 love triangle in this movie.

1. Bhuvan, Gauri and Elizabeth.
2. Bhuvan, Gauri and Lakha.
 
   Elizabeth fall in love with Bhuvan but Bhuvan beloved wife Gauri. That's why Elizabeth can't express his love. When she looks both are happy with each other than she sacrifice har love.
   Similar like Elizabeth, Lakha fall in love with Gauri but she loves Bhuvan.

Language :~
   In the movie language is important thing.
   English consider as high class language because it's only used by Britishers.
    Villagers can't know English language that's why Elizabeth confess his love proposal but Bhuvan can't understand his feelings.

What do you feel how your teacher must be and how your student must be?



Teacher :~

The quality of teacher which I like : 
  •        I like that teacher who are familiar with students and to communicate with student's ability, his query for subject and try to solve all student difficulties. 
  •        Teacher will create familiar atmosphere than students are not afraid and clearly understand what teacher is teach.
  •       Teacher try to communicate with all students because some students are fast learner and some students are slow, that teacher try to understand all students and solve students difficulties.


Student :~ 

The quality of student which I like :
  •        I like discipline, enthusiastic student who always hungry for knowledge and subject. 
  •       I also like that student who always ask questions based on subject. 
  •       Students are communicate with teacher and other student. Student is familiar with other students and help him for learning and other activities, this all sign is good student.

"हा में नर्वस हु।"


हा में नर्वस हु।
क्योंकि पहेली बार में कुछ बोलने आया हूँ।
अपने दिलमे छुपे कई राज खोलने आया हूँ।
क्योंकि बड़े दिनों के बाद आज हिम्मत आयी है।
इस लिए अपनी दिल की बात ज़ाहिर करने आया हूँ।

हा में नर्वस हु।
क्योंकि चाहता हूं कि अपनी बात पूरी दुनिया को बतानी है।
पर क्या करूँ ऐ दोस्त मेरी ज़ुबान बहुत लड़खडाती है।
क्योंकि इस बीमारी के कारण बचपनसे ही सबसे अलग रहता हूँ।
आखरी बेन्च पे बैठ कर मनहि मन रोलिया करता हूँ।

हा में नर्वस हु।
क्योंकि खडे होकर बोलने की हिम्मत मेरेमे नही है।
इस लिए कई परभी गीत गुनगुना लिया करता हूँ।
क्योंकि मेरे सारे दोस्त मुझे चिड़ाते है कि तुम एकदम फट्टू हो।
पर आज उन सबको इट का जवाब पत्थर से देने आया हु।

अब में नर्वस नही हूँ।
क्योंकि अब फ़र्क नही पड़ता कि सब लोग क्या सोचेंते है।
अब फर्क नही पड़ता कि लोग पीठ पीछे क्या बोलते है।
बहोत ज़िली ज़िंदगी डर डर के ।
आज मेरे जेसे को inspire करने आया हूँ।

 *Comparison and Interpretation of two different picture on the basic of the poem design by Robert Frost.*


When teacher or someone asks to draw picture of nature, the image come to our mind. We are only drawing good things like nature's beauty, his atmosphere and other things. We have try to give perfect shape to nature, that is round for sun, triangle for mountain and wave shape for river. But reality is different, everything depend in viewers mind and it's amateur quality. We can not judge people's views because different people's thinking  ability is different. Every people have it's own views and imagination.


Design by Robert Frost :~


This poem speaks about the harsh reality of nature. He was not shawn the only good aspects of nature, but has draws out attention towards the problem and bitter truth and post truth about the nature. After readind the poem ones. the following image came in my mind which is totallly different from the above image.

In the above image the situation is totally different, the spider is eating up the moth. this image came in my mind after reading these lines-
"I found a dimpled spider, fat and white,
on a white heal-all holding up a moth...."


The poet by using these kind of metaphors assorted the characters of  death and blight. Writer was trying to make moth as a 'tragic hero' and spider as a 'villain'. The intesity of pain was there. All wants to survive, the spider eats moth just to live long.The poet through this poem speaks about the harsh reality of nature. He is not highlighting the only good aspects of nature, but has draws out attention towards the problem and bitter truth about the nature. After readind the poem ones. the following image came in my mind which is totallly different from the above image.


The very first line about the white color of spider breaks the archetypal symbol of white which stands for peace and innocence. Here the white spider is totally contrasting. Everytime white is not look beautiful someimes white is more uglier than black. Thererfore the poem Design is not something about beautiful design, but a design of darkness, death. The designed web of spider attract insects and they get caught in the web of death.

Oneness of literature :~

Online discussion : Oneness of Literature :~

We find oneness in whole literature. All literature connected with each other.

T.S. Eliot's view ~

His work Tradition and individual talent, it's reflected to maximum influence of writer's past and experiences.
He said that no poets, artist of any art and has complete meaning alone, his appreciation is the application of his relationship with dead poets.

Northrop Fray view ~

His theory of Archetypal criticism that shows whole literature has oneness of it's existence and all share commonly.

'The West Land' by T.S.Eliot and Anton Chekhov's short story 'A Joke' we also find oneness of literature.

In The West Land we find this lines are connected with Chekhov's short story.

'And when we were children
 Staying at the archduke's
                            My cousin's he
 Took me out on a sled and
 I was frightened. He said Marie
 Marie hold on tight and
 Down we went.
           In the mountains there
           You feel free.'

This stanza shows the girl Marie's feeling like nostalgic and her experience for going to the mountain over the sled. She felt afraid but she got courage from his cousin. He gives her strength and she feels free.

Similarly we find in the short story 'A Joke' the same situation and incident in a girl Nadia.

She also feel like same situation in The West Land, she afraid like girl Marie. But she interest for sled and she doing it again and again.  During that time she felt that someone said her "I Love You Nadia". She confused that she thinks that it is reality or illusion. But after she realize that it's her illusion. No one speak that type of words.
So hear we can find the oneness between the poem and short story.

Sexual perversion ~

In the poem we find that sexual perversion as theme. This theme shows lustful desire and attraction. But Chekhov's short story have not found any kind of lust desire and attrection of man. At the end of story she married with other man still love her. This situation describe the reality of human relationship and selfless love.

So this type of comparison we find in both literary genre and shows oneness in it.

Movie review of 'MATILDA'

Movie review of 'MATILDA'


This movie is based on journey of little girl Matilda. The Movie shows the politically and humanitic satire.

First of all the movie started that shows the born of Matilda in hospital, but his parents were dislike that girl child. This seen shows gender difference.

Lonelyness ~
Every day Matilda's parents go to his work, and Matilda was lonely in his home but she likes that because she can do anything what she thinks. She makes food like pancakes and read books.

Reading books ~


She was like reading and she read everything like story, novels, poems, drama, fairytales and other things. But his father didn't like that reading. Everyday Matilda go to library for reading. The librarian tell her to borrow books and read at home.

Watching T.V ~
Parents of Matilda forced to watch t.v by her because she like reading. Parents thinks that why she read book, T.V Shows everything like book.

Introduction of school ~
Matilda thinks that she grown-up that she went to school, she create the school image of his mind like beautyfull garden, large play ground and good teachers. But her dream was break that she saw the school. But she like that place.

Comedy of school ~
First day of school, she enters the play ground that the principal miss Trenchbull (look like horrible and cruel) she gives to punishment of little girl to throwing her and this girl like flying and catch flowers that seen great comedy.

And another comedy is the prayer hall principal called the children Bruce, his eat principal's cake that principal gives the punishment of eat continually full cake(cake was very large).

Cheating with customers~
 Matilda's father runs the second handcar selling. But he cheat people, he used to fake part. He shows the business tricks of his son to how he earn to more Money. He cheats like car's part stick with superglu.

Negative character ~

Matilda's parents and his principal. The principal was very cruel woman, she always gives punishment of all student. Student create any Mistakes and problem that she give him hard punishment.

Positive character ~

Miss honey teacher of Matilda. She is good person, always take care of childrens. She knows that Matilda was very talented girl that she try to learn about her and his excellence show to his parents and principal but they ignore her.

Psychic power of Matilda ~

One day Matilda's father forcedly show the T.V that she can't look this and also she didn't like. Then she focus on mind his cruel family that his power works and break T.V. first of all she don't believe herself but some time past that she realize that do everything what she do. That's why she try to learn how to focus and control his power.

Happy ending ~

Matilda try to give miss Honey home returned by miss Trenchbull. Matilda makes plan and give his home back. And also miss Honey adopted Matilda to his family. And live happy life.
